General Eyewear

Arranged to try out a couple of frames via phone and mail order with Monica and Fraser, in the hope that I would like one of them and send the other pair back. Received them earlier than expected and absolutely loved and kept them both. A few months later I got to visit their stunning shop to have a small repair done, which was sorted and sent to me a couple of days later special delivery. While we were there we were served by Olivia who was amazingly helpful and her advice was spot on and, out of the blue, my wife came away with a lovely new pair of frames for herself. Very happy.

The choice is breathtaking; the staff are fantastic; I brought 2 pairs, my wife x 2, my friend x, 2 even my 70-year-old father-in-law rolled back the years. Customer service is excellent, I took a pair back for a minor adjustment with no problems at all, and even had a pair posted to Yorkshire. Everyone is very happy, Thank you general Eyewear, I will never trawl around the same-old, same-old unimaginative high street for glasses again

Long overdue review, and felt the need to save anybody else a major headache and disappointment if they should be interested in getting bespoke glasses from General Eyewear. To sum it up.... Extremely bizarre experience. I've never had a store take such little accountability for their customer service and be combative with the client for the stores communication issues, oversights, and downright disorganisation (as others have also mention). THEY WILL IGNORE YOU FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME WELL PASSED PROMISE DATES. It was giving bratty teenager running the family business for the summer energy to be honest. I could go into the fine details of what happened, and I was lucky enough to use PayPal which offered me buyer protection, otherwise I have a strong feeling I would have gotten ripped off. Again, super MF strange..... In the end, I wasted months of my time practically begging these people to help me and was forced to open a PayPal case (which they even tried to fight) in order to get my money back. It's a shame as the pieces DO look nice, but nobody wants to deal with all that other weird stuff, and it's looking like their actions are catching up with them... Read the room guys.

I own a 6YO pair of very limited edition Jacques Marie Mage glasses which were unfortunately seized upon by my neighbour’s poorly behaved dog when I was looking after him. Seemingly, they were ruined. I was crestfallen as I am very attached to my glasses and knew that they were irreplaceable. I called around several opticians, all of whom offered me little hope that they could be repaired. And then one evening my wife saw an Instagram ad from General Eyewear. I called them the next day and explained the situation to Monica, sent over some photos she requested of my ruined specs and was told I’d hear from them. The very next day Monica calls me back with good news, GE could repair the damaged acetate and re-glaze my lenses. A few days later I posted them my glasses and within a few weeks, they were returned to me looking absolutely brand new. Not so much a hint of any residual damage. Unreliable and Unresponsive: A Frustrating Experience with General Eyewear I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with General Eyewear. I ordered a pair of simple glasses with no prescription from their Stables Market store, expecting a smooth and efficient process. Unfortunately, that was far from reality. The most glaring issue was the significant delay in receiving my order. I patiently waited for a whole month, eagerly anticipating the arrival of my glasses. During this time, I received no communication whatsoever from the shop, leaving me completely in the dark about the status of my order. When I reached out to their customer service, I found them to be less than helpful and reluctant to provide any concrete information. Their lack of responsiveness only added to my frustration and fueled my dissatisfaction with their service. Upon expressing my dissatisfaction and requesting a refund, I was met with further disappointment. The shop was initially hesitant to issue a refund, which is a basic customer right when an order fails to be fulfilled in a reasonable timeframe. To my dismay, instead of providing a satisfactory resolution, they offered me another pair of glasses that I had no need for. Eventually, they promised to process the refund, providing a glimmer of hope. However, they failed to send any confirmation of the refund being processed as promised. Once again, I had to chase them up repeatedly to ensure that the refund was indeed being handled. I strongly advise against considering General Eyewear shop for any future purchases.
